BioHAnce® technology
BioHAnce is our patented cross-linked hyaluronic acid. Cross-linking slows the breakdown of hyaluronic acid on the ocular surface, so a drop stays where it is needed for longer than a traditional artificial tear.
In practice this means extended corneal retention, fewer applications, and a protective barrier over compromised tissue.
How cross-linking works
- Native hyaluronic acid is broken down quickly on the ocular surface, so a conventional artificial tear stops working within minutes.
- Cross-linking bonds the chains together, slowing that breakdown and keeping the molecule where it was applied.
- The result is 2 to 5 times longer hydration, fewer applications for the owner, and a protective barrier over compromised tissue.
